The final years

With the passing of the years, as his style matured, so the tormented feeling of inadequacy, as a human being and as an artist, surfaced more and more in his life and appeared both in his graphic work and in the even more pessimistic written notes.  He frequently “scraped” previous paintings that did not satisfy him, redoing them from scratch or just reusing the canvas for a new theme.

He continued to paint, draw, and write his notes until his death, following a fall in his beloved island of Ponza, on December 10, 1982.

His works– canvases as well as drawings – can be found in several private collections in Italy, Switzerland, France, Lebanon, Greece, United States, Canada, Argentina and Mexico, as well at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome.
